‘Kirkjufell Waves’
Photographers capture the aurora dancing over Kirkjufell & Kirkjufellsfoss. A beautiful display of Northern Lights on a cold Icelandic night. The ‘waves’ show the magnetic field of Earth and the aurora is made from ionised cosmic particles from a mass coronal ejection from our sun. Its a sight that always takes my breath away. Icelandic winter can be pretty cold but if you are lucky you are treated to beautiful dark skies, stunning stars and a snow covered landscape that lights up with the reflected light in long exposure photographs. It’s one of my favourite times to visit
