Photographers Road Trip – Iceland
Aurora Chasing – Photographer’s Road Trip
6 People – £1200 Per person – 2 SPACES LEFT
24th – 31st January 2025
This is a flexible trip that allows us to follow the best of the weather and chase the weather/aurora but also keep the costs down for everyone and make it more affordable than other Iceland trips out there. This is because I am already over there running tours at this time and this type of trip is one of my favourite ways to do it as in following the weather and stars we can ensure the maximum chance of getting the shots we are after and capturing the best of Iceland.
I book a large, capable minibus and I only be book accommodation as we go. This means it would be guesthouses, hostels (good ones), and apartments and on the trip, prioritising covering some miles and capturing Iceland. There would be more than one driver so we can take turns and really cover some miles. Doing it this way means that by using the Icelandic MET service and all the other apps and tools we can chase the best of the weather, light, aurora & stars and really concentrate on capturing the best of Iceland in the best of conditions, only being made possible by not being pre booked 300 miles away from where the aurora is happening! Although we will be trying to visit as many locations as possible, we will always take our time and spend quality time at each location, allowing you time to really work on getting those once in a lifetime shots. I will be on hand to help with any questions at all times too.
This trip is aimed at those who have their own kit and have a decent understanding on how to use it. By no means do you need to be a professional photographer but the focus of this trip is photography and everything will be based around us getting the best shots possible, in the best light and conditions possible
I’ve done it this was once before and it was amazing, we really got some amazing conditions as we were able to be totally flexible. Also we were able to try new locations and explore more.
Dates 24th January till 31st January AM (either early airport drop off of morning in Reykjavik)
The meeting point would be Iceland either off your flight or in Reykjavik. I’ll be there from the day before so am able to make sure I get everyone from their flights/accommodation (some like a night in Reykjavik the night before, as I do). Logistics can be organised after booking although when checking flights please aim to be in Iceland by 3pm on the 24th so we can head off to our first location for the night If people want a night in Reykjavik then I can suggest accommodation and places to eat or see. I am likely around for a meal and some chat about Iceland and where we will be visiting on our trip.
Then as everyone is assembled on the 24th it will be head off either North West or South East and the adventure starts. The direction will be decided looking at the weather and aurora conditions. We follow the weather and aim for the best light & locations for landscape and astrophotography, always keeping an eye to the skies for aurora. We have great signal in most of our locations so can follow the Iceland’s met offices and other apps to maximise our chance of aurora shots with stunning landscapes. At this time of year the sunrises and sunsets are stunning and also at a time where we can catch them en route. We also have long day nights, maximising our chance or clear skies, stars & aurora
