‘Rainbow Aurora over Orion’
My first view after summer of Orion, the Hunter. Orion has to be the most recognisable constellation and definitely a favourite of mine. Here you can see the rainbow colours of the stunning aurora we had on the night of the 10th October lighting up the sky behind one of my favourite trees with myself standing looking at the beautiful night and Orion rising.
In the sky you can see Orion with its stars of Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Mintake, Alnilam, Alnitak amongst others. Above left of Orion you can see Jupiter shining brightly and above right of this you can see the Seven Sisters (The Pleiades Cluster) and to the right of this and down slightly you can actually see another planet, Uranus.
This was a very special night shared by many across the globe but one I loved and enjoyed. I took this photo soon after midnight so actually taken on my 46th birthday as I was born on the 11th so a special photo to me and one soon to be hanging on my wall!
