The sky above the beautiful black beach of Stokksnes and the Vestrahorn lights up with powerful and bright green aurora which is in turn reflected into the receding waves from the North Atlantic.  A crisp, cold & beautiful night in Iceland
This shot is made up of 16 separate exposures, each a short exposure time due to the aurora moving and dancing across the skies, any longer and it would be blurred and blown out. To the right of the shot you can see Ursa Major, also known as the Plough and to the left the constellation of Cassiopeia and also the Double Cluster. Our sister galaxy Andromeda can be seen through the bright green aurora. Andromeda being the most distant object visible to the naked eye and one that lies 2.537 million light years away and contains a Trillion stars. All pretty mind blowing, as was the aurora
